Official: Rosatom unit sanctions not to affect Africa cooperation

MOSCOW, Apr 13 (PRIME) -- The U.S. sanctions against Rusatom Overseas, part of Russian nuclear power corporation Rosatom, is unfair competition, and Russia will not allow these measures to slow down its cooperation with the African states in peaceful nuclear power, Director of the Department for Africa of the Foreign Ministry Vsevolod Tkachenko told PRIME on Thursday.

"This step firstly belongs to the area of illegal and unjustified actions of the U.S. administration that is trying by all means to prevent development of our cooperation with the Africans, moreover in such science-intensive and promising area as peaceful nuclear power," Tkachenko said.

"I think that this is an attempt of undue competition that we will fight against and will not allow the Americans to hinder our cooperation with Africa, and not only Africa."
